Autumn on stage

A not-to-be-missed event during the All Saints’ Day holidays in Mimizan. This year, Autumn on stage will take place from 22 to 29 October.

What is Autumn on stage ?

Autumn on stage is an annual event dedicated to discovering our landscapes, our heritage and our traditions, for young and old alike. It’s also a chance to meet and talk to people who “love and live the area” and are committed to preserving it, but also to helping people discover and appreciate it: lovers of our landscapes, local flora and fauna, scientists, artists, musicians and even gourmets! That’s what Maylis the Ocean Mermaid enjoyed last year when she sailed up our rivers to discover our little corner of the Landes…. She has decided to return for the 2025 edition of Autumn on stage from 22 to 29 October. So keep your eyes and ears wide open, because you just might catch up with her during a visit, a workshop, or even a concert or lecture… !

Where and when?

Autumn on stage will take place in 2025 in Bias, Mezos, Mimizan , Saint Paul en Born and Pontenx les Forges… … and more specifically in magical sites that radiate light and atmosphere: the ocean, the national forest, Lake Aureilhan and its wetlands, the Etang des Forges, the airials and the houses of the Landes…. but also more intimate places in Mimizan such as the kitchens of a restaurant, the interior of the Porche bell tower or the Chapelle à la Mer (Chapel by the Sea). Automne en Scène runs this year from 22 to 29 October.

Who is it with?

Autumn on stage was launched by the Mimizan Intercommunal Tourist Office, but the event would be nothing without the participation of partners:

  • associations: AAPPMA, ADREMCA, Amis de Bouricos, ASEM Histoire et Traditions, Faune Landaise, Mimizan Asem Photos, Sirène de l’Océan, Somyla, Un troupeau pour la vie, etc.
  • public organisations: ONF, Mimizan Environmental Department, Mimizan Museum
  • private organisations: Ruchers du Born, Compagnie des Landes, Chez Nous restaurant, Vin’aroha wine shop
  • an artist: Evelyne Gardinal

Maylis the Ocean Mermaid

Follow the adventures of Maylis, the siren of the oceans: She’ll be criss-crossing our villages, wandering through our landscapes and meeting up with local men and women, as well as a strange little beast… You’ll find Maylis in many different guises, but also at times when you’d least expect it… whether at the exhibition, during the children’s workshops or even during a visit to the museum. You’ll meet Maylis in different ways, but also at times that you might not expect… whether at the exhibition, during the children’s workshops, or during visits, the concert, outings… Why this red thread? Quite simply, we wanted to highlight water, which takes many different forms in our region: salty, fresh; ocean, lake, stream, river, fountain… We also wanted to give a nod to our local mermaids: on the one hand, the Mimizan wind band “la Sirène de l’Océan ” and, on the other, the weather vane at the top of theMimizan’s porch bell tower and the saying ” May God protect us from the siren’s song, the whale’s tail and Mimizan’s bell tower “.
