OPERA - ADAPTATION For ages 11 and up In a sacred garden lives a priest and his daughter, Lakmé. Trapped in her garden and in her divine image, and oppressed by a demiurge of a father, no one is allowed to approach her. One day, Gerald, a soldier from a distant land, desecrates the garden. Thanks to her encounter with this stranger, who sees her as something other than the object of worship and desire that her father has made her, an impossible longing for freedom begins to take root within Lakmé. *Lakmé Revisited* is a reimagining of Léo Delibes’s opera. Far from the exoticization of India found in the original work, this adaptation sets its action in a fictional country and religious tradition.
